How to using 24x7... |
|
Hi,
I am using 24x7 for a while and now I am questioning myself on the I using it.
I setup 24x7 running as a service on my server.
When I need to update a job in the scheduler on my production server if I do a save while a job is running:
1- The 24x7 service is restarting.
2- When my job is over I never got the "Finish" status in the joblog.
3- The option "Create Semaphore file when job finish" not work.
4- The semaphore is never create and the next job never start.
How I can manage changes on my production server without impacting my production job?
Thanks.

Hi,

1- The 24x7 service is restarting. |
You should use either 24x7 Remote Control or use 24x7 Web-based Management Console. Both tools allow you to make changes on-line. The scheduler should be setup to run in server mode (Tools/Options menu; Network tab). This way you can make changes remotelly while the scheduler is running, must like you make changes in the database using your database management tools.

2- When my job is over I never got the "Finish" status in the joblog. |
Maybe it doesn't finish? Maybe it is hanging at the last step or simply unable to deallocate all resources after completion.
You set all jobs to run synchronous and detached. There are only a few exceptions covering very long running jobs (should run asynchronous) and JAL script jobs making use of global variables (cannot run detached)

3- The option "Create Semaphore file when job finish" not work. |
Not sure why. Perhaps it is a side effect of some other issue and relates to #2

4- The semaphore is never create and the next job never start. |
Same here. Perhaps it is a side effect of some other issue and relates to #2
