Sending external mails |
|
I can successfully send mails within my company using Sendmail, but not externally. Any attempt to send a mail outside results in the message: "The mail server doesn't like the name xxxxxx@xxx.com have you sent the recipient address correctly". I have the Email interface set up as SMTP. Do you have any idea what I may be doing wrong? Thank you, Lionel

Please verify you have correct email address specified for the sender and for the Default Email Sender setting in the Tools/Options menu. : Not exactly, for a test I tried to send it to my external account : Lionel@Sharonxxx.freeserve.co.uk.

: Please verify you have correct email address specified for the sender and for : the Default Email Sender setting in the Tools/Options menu. The sender address is correct, I'm not sure what to put into the SMTP sender address so I added my own company mail address. The SMTP (email) server has our company mail server entered which works fine for internal messages.

Check with email admins if the email server is set to use Outlook and IMAP protocols for outbound traffic only, in other words if it allows SMTP for sending external emails. : The sender address is correct, I'm not sure what to put into the SMTP sender : address so I added : my own company mail address. Had a word with IT, it was a permissions issue, they have allowed my IP address to send mails externally and it now works fine. Thanks for your help.
