Post Lotus Notes Reply with quote

When changing the options to Lotus Notes I get the following imformation message:

Unable to find Lotus Notes Installation directory. You may need to update your WIN.INI file!

Lotus Notes is installed on this server with release
level 6.5.3

email is sent OK using other methods but the selection of Lotus Notes
does not work.

1. It needs Lotus Notes client to send/receive email messages. The client normally saves path to notes.exe program in the WIN.INI file and 24x7 is looking for that record. So if you were to use the Notes email interface you wuld need to have Notes client installed on that computer.

2. The Lotus Notes email interface was designed to work with Notes version 3 an 4 and is still supported for backward compatibility. Don't use it with Notes 6. Use standard SMTP email interface instead.

Does that mean that 24x7 will not check for new email
in Lotus Notes 6.5.3?

Also, when the server signon is a different account than the Lotus Notes
client on the server, the passwords error message not synchronized is displayed which it would
never be. How would you get around this one without using the server signon profile or changing it
to the Lotus Notes client user.

Yes, it can, but not using the Notes interface. Here are your options:

1. Use MAPI interface: You will need Outlook installed on the machine.
2. Use 24x7 Event Server to do the incoming email monitoring and trigger 24x7 Scheduler jobs when the required email is received. It will monitor POP3 mailbox. The latest version can be downloaded from our web site.
3. Use 24x7 Multi-platform version instead of the Windows version. This will also monitor POP3 mailbox. Version 2.x can be downloaded from our web site. For the latest version 4 (build #215) contact support to obtain a direct download link.
