Post Windows 2003 run as Service Reply with quote

Good morning,

we have installed 2 Scheduler server (1 master and 1 slave)
and 5 agents all the installation are made on Win 2003 server
Standard Edition with Service Pack 1 and all run as NT services.

All works fine, but ... occasionally the master scheduler
stop to schedule the jobs, the service still running, but the scheduler
don't launch any job (the schedule.log don't log anything) and the slave
scheduler don't start run jobs?

I've tried to trace the activity, but the master.log was ureadable for uman guy ;)

thnaks for your support.

Roberto

1. Do the master/standby work when running as services? When you stop the master service, does the standby takes over? Have you actually tried that?

The configuration and permissions for services could be a bit tricky that's why I am asking these questions.

2. What is the last messages or messages that you get in the schedule.log on the master before it stops running jobs?

3. Do you have jobs setup to run detached and synchronous? If you have multiple job queues, do all jobs stop running or only jobs assigned to specific job queue?

Yes the standby takes over an run the jobs (but don't log nothing on the schedule.log on the standby server)
All the services Run with the Same DOMAIN User

13/12/2005 03.40.08 1 359 0 JOB_NAME_1 Agent AGENT_NAME not found. Distributed communications error.
13/12/2005 03.40.08 0 298 0 JOB_NAME_2 Agent AGENT_NAME contacted.

The jobs run detached and synchronous, we have multiple Queue and all the queue stop running.

I guess you are looking at the wrong file. Do you have 24x7 installed in multiple places? If you are not sure search your computer for schedule.log file.

Try placing JOB_NAME_1 and JOB_NAME_2 into the same queue so that they don't attempt to connect to the same agent simultaneously. Check if it fixes the connection problem.
