Post Password Login to Web Page Reply with quote

When using the script command WebGetFile, How do I specify a login and password to a web site?
In IE you can use http://login:password@www.somewhere.com but this does not seem to work in 24x7 v3.4.
Any suggestions???

Thanks,
Allen

Here is a copy/paste from the WebGetFile topic in the on-line help file.

myname:mypassword@http://www.mycompany.com/webstats/access.log

Please see WebGetFile help topic for more info.
In case if you need to login to a proxy server please read WebConfig topic.

Thanks for the help. I must have missed the syntax the first time I went to the help screen.
I was able to log into a couple of password protected sites using this method but was unable to log into one particular site. I kept getting an error.
It would grab the web page but the page said "Password Error."
Is there an alternative way to specify the login and password.

Thanks,
Allen

Are there any special ASCII characters in the login name or password?
I mean \t, \r, etc... Please see "special ASCII characters" for more info.

No,
The login is webuser.
The password is userweb.
Seems kid of strange. This particular web server is embedded in a piece of equipment and may not follow the standards 100%.
I am able however able to access this piece of equipment with IE OK.
Thanks,
Allen

The actual url is:
http://208.35.28.22/image.jpg
so for IE you would type it like this:
http://webuser:userweb@208.35.28.22/image.jpg

No, sorry this old version does not support login feature.
As far as I remember this future was introduced in version 2.2 or even later.

Please note that the most recent version now is 3.4.5. Version 1.6.2 is almost 3 years old and is not supported anymore.
