I would like to send an snmp trap from a 24x7 scheduler to the hp insight
manager monitoring pc. do I have to install the mib's into hp insight manager
or is is enough if 24x7 is installed?

It is enough to have 24x7 installed. After installation restart your computer and it will be ready to send SNMP traps.

I would like to do something with the snmp traps that I send.
In other programs you have top import the snmp mib's of the foreign program
into your management workstation to have an alert that is readable for a human.

An alert like snmp 0.1.2.3.4.5 alert occured will not mean much to people.

Every trap generated by 24x7 Scheduler contains 2 variables: job id and the actual message. This message is human readable and matches what you seen in the job log like. Error occurred in job XXX while executing YYYY operation (in line ZZZ)", "Job XXX started at TTTTT" and similar messages. These messages are human readable.

Job ID and message text are completely dynamic and depend on the actual job and error.
You cannot import them because they are unknown and become known in the job run-time at the time of selected job event.

Trap OID is always .1.3.6.4.1.15277.4.1

To configure community names, trap destinations, security and other parameters go to Control Panel, services applet and then Properties for SNMP service.
To configure your management console add traps with OID .1.3.6.4.1.15277.4.1 and set it to display trap variables. I cannot provide more specific instructions because different consoles have different methods for doing that.
