Environment:
Windows 2000
24X7 2.4.15

Each time I try to start the 24X7 as a service the
following error appears in the 24X7 log:

System Error: Unable to register 24X7 Scheduler instance.

If I make the user that the service is starting under
Admin or Power User the app starts correctly. Either
of these options is a problem at my site.

What does the software need access to that the normal
user acccount is missing? Registry hives or file system
directories?

It fails because of insufficient permissions. It cannot write to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE registry hive.

Is there a particular sub-hive of HKLM that it needs? My security folks would rather I lock it donw a little tighter that the entire HKLM hive.

"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SoftTree Technologies, Inc.\24x7 Scheduler\2.0"
