The reason it could not update logcat.dll and logmsg.dll was probably you running Event Viewer or other NT event log mining or monitoring application. These 2 DLLs are used by Windows for event message display. The solution for this issue is to close Event Viewer and other running applications during software installation processes. Hope this helps. : I am preparing to upgrade an FDA-regulated server : running version 3.4.9 to version 3.4.16. (This is : to address the Slide Holiday issue we spoke : about on 12/3/2003.) I have : done the upgrade in two different test situations : to prepare for the production server (which must be : heavily documented every step of the way). : On WindowsXP, I installed the 3.4.9 running as a : service, stopped the service, upgraded to 3.4.16, : no problems. Then I installed 3.4.9 running as a : service on a Windows 2000 SP2 server (like the : production server), stopped the service, and ran : the upgrade. I received error messages on two files: logcat.dll and : logmsg.dll. The message was : "An error occured while trying to replace the existing : file: [filename] DeleteFile failed; code 5. Access is denied." : I chose to ignore and continue the install. After- : wards, I was able to rename the old modules and : replace them with the new ones from the XP : installation. : 1. Is this a sufficient fix? : 2. Do you have any ideas why I ran into this? : 3. How likely is it that I will run into the : the same problem when I get ready to do the : production server (FDA-regulated). : Thanks, : Anson
