Post Recursion in the Scheduler Reply with quote

Hi Guys

I have a similar problem to Anson.. from a thread in 2001 ... I am trying to schedule a job to run
between 9:30AM and 2PM .. and if possible terminate when it runs sucessfully, until the next day.
Of course I do not want to hog the processor unnecessarily.

I have tried the suggestion below but I do not understand how the recursion Interval is specified.
For example in your suggestion to Anson where does he say he want the job to run every 1 minute.

cheers,

Leslie

: This is not a start/end time limits for a daily job. This is global start/end
: datetime limites for the job, e.g. start datetime is when the job is
: executed the very first time and end datetime is when the job is executed
: the very last time. A daily job will run recursively at the specified
: interval until the end datetime is reached (if any specified). If no end
: date is specified it is considered as 3000/01/01.

: What you realy want to do is implemented in a job template "Run program
: from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM". Create your job from this template and then
: change the time to 6:00 AM and 10:00 PM

There is a big difference betwen the version available in 2001 and now. Latest versions support daily start/stop time limits. Schedule your job to run "All day" every X minutses. Use the Advanced button on the schedule step to specify that you want this job to run only between 9:30AM and 2:00 PM.
That's it.

I assume you are running version 3.4.0 or later.

I am running the latest version.
I tried using the Run "all day" every 30 minutes however ... it runs 24 hours.
However I just want to run from 9am to 2pm.
When I use the options in the advance button the job does not run reliably as scheduled.
This is illustrated in the job forecast... even after restarting the forecast shows
the jobs running outside the specufied time range

What daily time limits are you referring to?

I found the log file does not log all jobs.. any idea why?

Leslie

Are you sure specified 9am to 2pm interval?

I could not reproduce your proble. Here is what I tried

1. Click New Job
2. Click Next button and type in Notepad.exe
3. Click Schedule button and select All Day option
4. Click Schedule button again enter first start time as 00:00 and also enter 30 minutes for the recursion interval
5. Click Advanced button and enter 09:00AM 02:00 PM
6. Click Ok and then click Finish button.
7. Save changes (File/Save) and then run the Forecast report. The report shows correct job run times.
