Post Run as another user... Reply with quote

Hi,

I'm trying to run a job as another user when 24x7 is running as a service, and I keep getting the error:

Exit code: -1. Logon failed. Return code: 1314 - A required privilege is not held by the client.

I've read the help on the subject and here are the steps I've taken:

Control Panel,
Services,
Selected 24x7 Scheduler,
right-click for Properties,
logon tab page,
Logon As: selected "This Account" radio button
Entered the the account and password (which has administrator rights)

Also...

Start,
Administrative Tools,
Local Security Policy,
selected tree node "Local Policies",
selected sub node "User Rights Assignment"
selected item "Log on as a batch job"
right-click, selected "Security"
The user-id that I want to logon as has "Local Policy Setting" checked in the "Log on as a batch job"

Also, our network administrator also checked the Default Domain Controller Group Policy object and added this user to have batch job priveliges.

After doing all this, I still get the same error.

One thing though, which I did not quite understand, was the
paragraph in the help that read:

"Also, the process inherits the environment of the 24x7 Scheduler, rather than the environment associated with the specified user." (See help screen.)

What does this mean? Do I have to make any changes anywhere else to the 24x7 environment?

FYI:
24x7 version 3.4.11
Windows Server 2000

Thanks,
Robert

You may need to restart your computer after changing "Log on as a batch job" privileges.

Regarding your question for
"the process inherits the environment of the 24x7 Scheduler, rather than the environment associated with the specified user."

Different user accounts may have different settings, including environment variables, location of TEMP files, etc...
If you run a job as another user the started process will use your environment settings rather then the settings of the specified user.
