In addition to my email messages concerning the transfert
of files via FTP which are currently being uploaded
what about the following : To test if files can be
transferred the (upload lmust be finished !!!) the
script will test if renaming of the file is possible.
If an error occurs I'll leave the file for the next cycle
and continue to check other files. In case a file can be
renamed ccan consider that the uplaod process
finished properly ?

This really depends on the implementation of your FTP server software. Most likely you can rely on renaming method but you should conduct a test on your FTP server, just to be safe...

Run some job that will upload big file to the FTP server. While this job is running, run another job that will attempt to rename the file being uploaded. If the second job fails then the rename method works for you.
