If I click run now on a particular job, 24 X 7 seems to freeze up. I cannot maneuvre 24 X 7 to browse other jobs until the run job completed. Is it a software bug?

It is by design. The Run Now is a special run mode which used to test-run jobs. So "run now" job always runs in the foreground and displays any errors as popup messages on the screen asking if you want to abort the job or continue running. It is a sort of debug mode.
