Post dreaded line breaks Reply with quote

SysOp you posted this:

"Most simple way is to use \r and \n. Read "Special ASCII characters" topic for more info. "

after i posted this:

": when building my string to dump into a txt file via FileWrite (file_number,
: myString)

: how the heck do i add a carriage return to certain parts of my string?

: thank you. "

And I've tried to use \r and \n. They don't work!!! this is how i'm using them:

// Build text line
Concat( "Ash C: ", free_ashC, line )
Concat( line, "\rAsh D: ", line )
Concat( line, free_ashD, line )
Concat( line, "\rAsh E: ", line )
Concat( line, free_ashE, line )
Concat( line, "\rAsh F: ", line )
Concat( line, free_ashF, line )
Concat( line, "\rAsh G: ", line )
Concat( line, free_ashG, line )
Concat( line, "\nAsh H: ", line )
Concat( line, free_ashH, line )
Concat( line, "\nBeech C: ", line )
Concat( line, free_beechC, line )
Concat( line, "\nBeech D: ", line )
Concat( line, free_beechD, line )
Concat( line, "\nBeech E: ", line )
Concat( line, free_beechE, line )
Concat( line, "\nBeech F: ", line )
Concat( line, free_beechF, line )
Concat( line, "\nBeech H: ", line )
Concat( line, free_beechH, line )

// Append built line to the log file
FileOpen( "serverdisks.txt", "LineMode", "Write", TRUE, file_number )

FileWrite( file_number, line )

FileClose( file_number )

Any thoughts?

Make sure in the Tools/Options/Editor options you have backslash specified for the escape character.

In Windows you should use a pair of line feed and carriage return.
For example: Concat( "\r\nAsh C: ", free_ashC, line )

By the way, you can squeeze all Concat lines into one ConcatEx statements
