Post Server Monitor Reply with quote

I am trying to create a script to monitor several servers. I am using your Server Alive example script. Here is the problem. The script works if the host is up. If the host is down, not responding to a ping, the script just hangs on the ping statement. I am running NT 4.0 with winsock 2 and 24x7 version 2.3.0. I have been using the exact code from the example with the same results. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

It takes some time for the ping to timeout. Please keep waiting.

While developing your jobs you may want to turn on "tracing" in the Tools/Options/Log to see additional diagnostic messages.

I am informed that there may be an issue with older Internet Explorer DLL's regarding timeouts.

If you have IE5.0, consider updating to the latest version (5.5).

See if this resolves the long timeout issues.
