Post Oracle Reply with quote

I'm running Windows NT with SP6 using the latest version 2.1.2 I'm running the Oracle 8i client on the server.

Using either Oracle 7.3 or Oracle 8.0.4-8i, 24x7 crashes with a "Dr. Watson". This can be repeated either through a Test Connection, or using a SQL command job. The weird thing is that if I setup an ODBC connection to the SAME database. Then, "prime" it by doing a Test Connection using the ODBC connection through 24x7. Subsequently, I can use the Oracle connection with no problems. (BTW-This only works if you prime it with an ODBC connection that has the same underlying Oracle database.)

Anyone else seen this weird behavior?

Thanks.

Derek

Try reinstalling Oracle client software, also make sure you don't have multiple copies and/or multiple versions of the client DLLs installed on your system.

Note that Oracle ODBC driver from Oracle does not use Oracle client and talks directly to SQL*Net. Oracle ODBC drivers from Microsoft and Intersolve apper to be less buggy and more stable than Oracle own driver.
