Post Querying schedule.log file Reply with quote

I am trying to write a 24x7 script job to look for messages in the schedule.log file, but I get an 'error opening file' message. I am assuming that this is because 24x7 has some lock on the file (even though I can open it in Notepad?). I've tried setting the job properties to 'do not log execution progress and errors for this job' but this makes no difference. Is there a way I can get round this problem? The reason I want to do this is because I have several job dependancies set up using semaphore files and if I also set the job to notify if an execution error occurs, the semaphore gets created when the job errors and the dependant process then runs when I don't want it to. I realise that I can write scripts to create the semaphore files on successful completion of a job and then script the dependant job to look for this file when it starts, but this won't allow me to see or setup dependancies in the dependancy editor.
I'm using 24x7 v2.01 on NT4 SP6.

TIA

The .LOG file should not be locked. Can you post a fragment of your script that gives you that error?

Oops! looks like my mistake. I assumed that if I didn't fully qualify the filename that it would look in the 24x7 installation directory. It works OK with a fully qualified name.
