Error message re.."ORA803.dll could not be fo |
|
"ORA803.dll could not be found" message when I try to connect to any database.
Any ideas? Is this due to my PowerBuilder install? or something else?

Do you have Oracle 8.0.3 client installed on your computer? If yes, is it in the PATH? : "ORA803.dll could not be found" message when I try to connect to : any database. : Any ideas? Is this due to my PowerBuilder install? or something else? : -bac

Apparently, I don't. Can I just get the dll somewhere? or do I need to go through the oracle install process for this dll? If so, what in particular should I be asking to install (ie, Oracle OCI, ...)? : Do you have Oracle 8.0.3 client installed on your computer? : If yes, is it in the PATH?

You need both Net8 and Oracle OCI, but still this is installed as Oracle client software. Without it, no application can connect from your computer to any Oracle database : Apparently, I don't. Hmmmmm. I am able to connect via PowerBuilder7 using it's native Oracle driver (non-ODBC). This seems like an ODBC problem then. I'll look into having the oracle client reinstalled, making sure any odbc options are selected. Any other thoughts from you are appreciated. This means that you already have Oracle client installed. You don'have to use an ODBC interface, you can still use the native database driver. Are you sure you select the right database driver for the connection? The selected driver should match version of your Oracle client. : Hmmmmm. OK, Got it working. I didn't have the right driver selected. Chose the 8.0.4 driver from the drop-down, and now it works.
