I'm working on an Oracle 8i Database and the document suggests that I shouldn't use the @ symbol to connect to the database. I use Enterprize manager and the connection string I use is MachineName:PortNumber:SID it works fine with enterprize manager, but when I use the same connection string to connect to the database with dbtools I get the ORA-06401 error. could you sujjest a solution for this problem thanks. : ORA-06401 means that the connect string has an invalid : 'driver designator'. It usually indicates an error : in typing the string -- @TN:XXXXXX instead of @TNS:XXXXXX -- : or a ';' instead of a ':'. : If you are connecting to Oracle 7.x.x, make sure to specify "@" (at : sign) in front of the connect string.
