FR: Overlay icons to show database status |
|
SQL Server Management Studio has some nice (v18)
and some slightly less nice and usable (v19)
but still working icons (and extra text) that show the different statuses of the database. In the screenshots, there are only read-only databases, but I believe it also has something for the suspect and offline databases as well. Could we have those in SE too, please? Also, IIRC, SE does not show offline databases and restoring databases at all, they aren't in the Database Explorer.

There is an enhancements on the road-map to show overlay icons for invalid, in recovery, and other kinds of read-only objects, including expired and disabled logins. Originally it was planned for 10.2 maintenance release but got pushed down because of other developments. The notes indicates that was was estimated as an easy enhancement turned out to be not so simple. It requires revamping the internal data caching structures to support additional status flags and updating other internal functions to correctly handle different states.

It's in a queue, pending implementation, but no known ETA yet.
