Post Standby replication Reply with quote

I am using the evaluation version of the program, and would like to evaluate the Stand-by feature. I get the Master running and the standby updates every minute (or so it says in the status bar, eg "14 jobs synchronized"), but when i turn off the master and the Stand-by takes over the new jobs aren't there and the following error message is in the job log "Syncronization with master scheduler failed! Requested server not active. Switching to auto-pilot mode"
No jobs on the scheduler are scheduled to run either.

You should copy SCHEDULE.DAT ( job database) to the standby computer before you start the Standby scheduler.

The Master scheduler creates a snapshot of job database every time it gets a request from the Stanby scheduler. This snapshot maps jobs and job states in the job database. After that the snapshot gets transferred to the Standby scheduler which in turns applies that snapshot to its own copy of the job database.

This way, if something happens with the Master schedule, the Standby knows about job states and so it knows from where to take over. So the job processing can continue uninterrupted.

I copied the Schedule.dat to the Standby computer, launched 24x7 and waited a minute for the status bar message, "3 jobs replicated", closed the master, at the next replication interval the Standby took over and launched but the time said the were no jobs scheduled to run, to get it to work i had to make a change in one of the active jobs and press save, then the correct job was displayed and the timer was fine. How do i get it to automatically turn the timer on and take over, and if any changes are made in the master while the standby is on should those changes be seen on the standby, ie a new folder with a job in it?

Are there any command line parameters that you pass to 24x7.exe?

Make sure you don't have "/NOTIMER" there.

All changes made on the Master should get to the Standby, including new folders and jobs no matter how they were created. But, initial job database file must be the same (v1.6 comming soon, will allow multiple job databases and the Standby will not require any database to be loaded on start up).

I am not passing any parameters to the executable. If i set up the master and standby and make any changes on the master the change in the job count is shown on the standby's status bar when it replicates, but when it rolls over there is nothing new on the standby.
Also is the [standby] supposed to change to [master] in the window title? Mine doesn't, it changes from [standby] to nothing.

Make changes on Master, save them then run a job on Master. What happens on Standby after the replication?

thanks for the help.
After applying the 1.6 beta version all the problems went away.
