Post How to switch between the Professional, Developer, or Beginn Reply with quote
Hi,

Got another question for today.

When we install Sql Asissant, there's a configuration choice

Professional (DBA)

Developer

Beginning

I think I'm using the Developer configuration, but want to see what the DBA configuration looks like. How can we switch, after the install?

That selection of Professional, Developer, and Beginner simply drives selection of follow up options in the setup when you run it very first time. If you run it again, the setup attempts to restore your previously selected options. For example, if you run setup very first time, and select Developer option, then click next, it should preselect Visual Studio, Eclipse, and some other targets and options that cater mostly to application developers, if you choose Pro, then it should preselect SQL Server Management Studio, pgAdmin, plugin for DB2 Data Studio, and related options. Other than that pre-selection of various options, there is not much else different.

Ok, thanks. I was hoping that a different profile would display the Automatic Refresh checkbox, that's referenced in the manual. I don't have that.

That checkbox is in the Options dialog. Search it on Refresh keyword.

Hi,

Can you do me a favor, and send a screenshot of where it is?

I'm looking at both Registered Targets/Sql Assistant Code Editor/Options, and the DB Options. I'm at the office now, and can't forward you an image, because they block image uploading with some sites.

Note that this is only to set its default value (checked/unchecked) when opening new tabs/connections. That checkbox is part of the Explorer pane, so it isn't visible if the Explorer is closed.

I understand, thanks gemisigo. The explorer is always open, it's indispensable.

I just responded to you from the office, now I'm responding from home.

The office doesn't display images from the softtreetech forum, so I didn't realize until now that you provided an image.

Thanks, chief. I sometimes ask questions here, and then get an answer about some feature, and am too embarrassed to admit I can't find it. The fact that there are several 'Options' tabs in different contexts makes it more difficult to find something on an Options tab.

But this one - the check mark was right in front of me, and I didn't see it until you circled it here. I've been looking for it, for a while.

Can't speak for the rest of you, but AIs will definitely be replacing me.
