Post SSMS + S.A intellisense Reply with quote
So now and then I'd get the SSMS intellisense popup when hitting ctrl+space after a KW like SELECT, so I turned off the SSMS intellisense so I wouldn't get both popups at the same time. (Yes I know S.A pops up in that scenario with simply a space bar, but ctrl+space is kind of engrained in my head now)...

At any rate, as I said that fixed that conflict, but now I've lost the code folding/code collapse capabilities.

Does anyone here have suggestions on how to keep that enabled without having conflicting intellisense popups?

This seems even more evident with SSMS 10.5. Ctrl+Space after going back to add more columns to a query brings up both the intellisense picker and the S.A picker... even though Ctrl+J is the shortcut key for "List members" for intellisense.

Please disable intellisense option in SSMS and it won't interfere.

But if I do that I don't get the code collapse/code folding feature.

Isn't code folding feature controlled by Outline Statements option?

Yes but as you can see, if I disable intellisense it disables code folding too. It doesn't "uncheck" it, but it becomes disabled/dim.. and boom, no more code folding. It's irritating they have it done this way.

I moved to SSMS 2016 (16.5) and had to re-visit this whole intellisense thing again. My code folding is gone in SSMS if I disable intellisense

Was there ever a way to remedy this?

Now on 18.9.1. same ole same ole.

I wish MS would separate code folding from intellisense.

I did find under Text Editor -> all Languages -> Statement Completion, disabling "Auto List Members" and "parameter information" seems to have nixed the SSMS intellisense but kept the code outlining.

Just a note, ctrl+space will still invoke the SSMS Autocomplete/intellisense over top of S.A's popup intellisense.

Ctrl+J does too, but that doesn't invoke SA's intellisense popups..

So close... probably "good enough" if I can keep my hands off ctrl+space.
