Extending selection on currently selected text seems to be a bit buggy when the first selection happens using the mouse and the selection happens backward from the cursor's current position.

Shift+clicking a position lower than the current position selects the text between the cursor's actual position and the clicked position. That works as expected. Clicking even lower will extend the selection even further. However, when the second click happens to be above the initial position of the cursor the selection is not extended but sort of broken somehow. It also occurs when the is made "upwards" and then trying to extend the selection by Shift + Up arrow. Instead of extending, it replaces the current selection.

I can't really explain what happens, check this short video here.

This still glitches when extending selection using the keyboard (v12.1.277 Pro). It fails when using the keyboard to extend selections that have been initialized using the mouse by selecting "upwards" from the caret/cursor. It only works for "downwards" selections. For "upwards" selections, trying to extend them using the keyboard will remove and reinitialize the selection from the current position of the caret. Extending a selection using the mouse works both ways, it always had.

The old video has already expired but here is a new one.

Thank you very much for the detailed report. We managed to reproduce this issue and expect it to be fixed soon.
