RunAs issue |
|
Hello, I'm trying to use runas on a non domain (standalone) workstation to let a non admin user run a program. When I try using it under the non admin user OR the admin user I get
RunAs version 2.2.1
Copyright (c) 2003-2007 SoftTree Technologies, Inc.
Logging in as .\admin...
Setting user environment...
Logged in. Impersonating...
Starting process c:\windows\notepad.exe...
Error #1314: A required privilege is not held by the client.
Note: User account running RunAs must be assigned "Act as part of the operation
system" rights and also have "Create token" rights. User account used to run the
process must be assigned "Logon as a batch job" rights.
I've verified that the requirements in the Note are set as directed. Not sure where to go from here.

Using the /V switch I get the following as the non admin user:
RunAs version 2.2.1
Copyright (c) 2003-2007 SoftTree Technologies, Inc.
Logging in as .\admin...
Setting user environment...
Error #1314 loading user profile! Error ignored.
Error #5 setting user environment! Error ignored.
Logged in. Impersonating...
Binding new process to the user Desktop...
Starting process c:\windows\notepad.exe...
Error #170: The requested resource is in use.
Notepad is not in use and the admin account is not logged in, so I'm not sure what resource is is use. This is a Windows 7 Pro VM. I'm the only user connected.

From your second post it looks like you resolved that issue. You now have all required permissions effective, and you can login as .\admin, but now you get stuck with "The requested resource is in use." The error comes from Windows. The message is too generic to know what's exactly is in use. Please try https://www.google.com/#q=windows+7+starting+process+170+%22The+requested+resource+is+in+use and see if anything in the search results looks similar to your case.
One general recommendation is to try restarting the computer. That normally fixes all kinds of file and resource locking issues.
