Hi,

I do have SQL Assistant Professional. After upgrading to version 9, not only I lost my license, the new version removed the SQL Assistant menu from SSMS ! I used all the troubleshooting explained in the forum with no luck so I uninstalled V.9 and went back to SA 7.5. However, the SQL Assistant menu is gone for good !

Yes it seems new major versions require a new key. I put in a request for mine this morning but have yet to hear back.

How about the SSMS registration issue ? It was supposed to be fixed in the new release. Do you have the same problem ?

SSMS works for me, but I'm using 2008R2 SSMS. I've for the most part switched over to their own SQL Editor because of the tighter integration with SQL Assistant.

I use SSMS now primarily for maintenance tasks like modifying tables and views and things that I cannot do via a GUI/wizard in SQL Editor.

All I've seen on SSMS 2016 is to start SQL assistant "as administrator" and toggle the "Register SQL Assistant" addon from yes to no and hit apply and back to yes and hit apply in the advanced properties for the target config.

I'm sure by now you've done that.

I'd like to clarify the previous message. To install the software you don't have to enter the license key right away. You will have 2 weeks to obtain the key and enter it.

I've noticed on your screenshot of the diagnostics log that SSMS add-on is not registered and it says the it cannot find the file. Please open SQL Assistant options, and then activate the Targets tab and select MS Management Studio. Expand the Advanced options section, set Register Addon option value to No and click the Apply button, then set it back to Yes, and click the Apply again.
Be sure that the license key on the about tab is either blank or a valid v9 license key entered. start SSMS 2016 again. If SQL Assistant is still not showing up, please open the Options again, and on the About tab click, "run diagnostics..." link. When diagnostics run completes, it will print a message in the console indicating location and name of the output log file. Please post the contents of your log file so we can see if anything is wrong there with SSMS registration.

Please delete Visual Studio MEF cache files

All files from this folder C:\Users\user_name\AppData\Local\Microsoft\SQL Server Management Studio\13.0\ComponentModelCache\

And also all matching here C:\Users\user_name\AppData\Local\Microsoft\SQL Server Management Studio\13.0\Extensions\extensions.*.cache

Perfect ! That was the solution. It works like a Swiss watch now.

Thanks,
