existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote |
|
Hello,
I am trying to set up mailsend in 24X7 to send email thru gmail. I am able to send from this same physical machine using outlook express but 24X7 comes back with:
System.Net.Sockets Verbose: 0 : [2136] Socket#4032828::Send()
System.Net.Sockets Error: 0 : [2136] Exception in the Socket#4032828::Send - An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host
Any ideas on what we are doing wrong?
Thanks in advance,

This is an authentication issue. Make sure you use correct port and protocol.

Thanks for your reply. The port and credentials are the same. When you say protocol - what specifically should I check?

Please check if your gmail account requites TLS protocl. Regular SMTP protocol on port 25 won't do it. You may need to set it to port 587 or 465 and enable SSL. However, 24x7 by default uses regular SMTP, I've heard that sending SMTP messages over SSL/TLS is possible in 24x7, but that cannot be set via regular options, that requires some changes in config files.
Also, check your email message limit. Google imposes very tight restrictions on the number of messages send via SMTP. The limit is typically too low for automated programs.

This is the first message we are trying so the nbr of messages is not an issue. We are checking TLS etc.
Thanks a lot for your prompt reply. ...

We have been able to narrow the problem down to 24x7 not being able to work with GMAIL SMTP server that requires username and password. We are using v3.5. Any tips?

To the best my knowledge, gmail servers do not support smtp. The user different protocol called smtp/tls. that is' why it doesn't work.
