Cell Navigation using Keyboard |
|
Pl enable keyboard cell navigation inside sql assistance result pane. It is really annoying to navigate cells using scroll bar when there are many columns in query result.
Just try this...
Run this command SELECT * FROM INFORMATION_SCHEMA.[COLUMNS] and press ctrl+shift+F9
Once the result is generated try to navigate using left/right arrow keys beyond last visible col. u will notice that grid is not shifting to current focus cell?

Thank you for your suggestion. I have logged it to your internal system. Ticket #SA0022903

I think I have suggested few enhancements to "SQL assistance result pane" in past, if those can be implemented in next update then it will be more productive than native sql server result pane. Let me summarise few again...
1. Rearrange columns
2. Drag & drop grouping option like outlook.
3. Option to transpose result (row-to-col and vice versa)

and also most imp, add status bar to result pane so that additional information can be shown at glace, like
1. display of SUM & count when numeric column data are selected like excel
2. display of no.of rows and columns in result

Good news, we will have keyboard navigation within the output data-grid working in the next public build.

These are interesting suggestions, but all the same you can right click the results and click "Open in Excel"
Though I do kind of agree that a row count should be given in the grid view, not the messages pane.
