Post Windows 8, SSMS 2008 R2 SP2 and SQL Assistant 6.2.112 St Reply with quote
Hi!
I have problem with SQL Assistant.
I use SSMS 2008 in Windows 8 and in SSMS don't show SQL Assistant item in context menu.

I tried to run SSMS as administrator, but to no avail.

Let me know what could be the problem.

Thanks

Please try re-registering SQL Assistant Add-ons for SSMS while running SQL Assistant in system tray in Run as Administrator mode and then restarting SSMS. Please let me know if you need more details

Restart sqlassist.exe in Run as Administrator mode
Double click SQL Assistant icon in the system tray to open the Options dialog
In SQL Assistant Options on the Targets tab, locate MS Management Studio target and select it
On the right, expand Advanced options section
Change Register Add-on option to False and click the Apply button
Change Register Add-on option back to True and click the Apply button again
Start SSMS in Run as Administrator mode.

Please check if that resolves the issue with the menu in the Object Navigator.

I'm not sure exactly what could be the reason for that. I've found a similar issue someone else reported recently and they could fix it only by re-installing SQL Assistant. Please see here http://www.softtreetech.com/support/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=23779 for more info. Though that is not a Windows 8 system, which might be an additional factor.
