SQL Assistant 5.2.59 is now available for download. This is a new significant maintenance release.

Here is a list of new features and enhancements in version 5.2

General
1. New Schedule feature for scheduling runs of SQL code on single and multiple database systems using sequential and concurrent parallel runs.
2. Completely rebuilt and greatly enhanced Database Code Refactoring engine now supporting the following smart-refactoring methods:

3. The database refactoring coverage expanded from 3 to 8 different database system types.
4. Lots of enhancements in database refactoring methods, including updating Oracle synonyms when renaming based objects, enabling column renaming in 'return table' in table functions in SQL Server, and many others.
5. Code formatter and beautifier now supports space alignment for assignment operators.
6. Code dependencies engine now supports analysis of dependencies for procedure and function parameters.

Database Specific Enhancements
5. Support for reporting compilation error details. when executing code in Oracle targets.
6. Support for new PostgreSQL 9.0

SQL Intellisense Enhancements
7. Pasting SQL functions with parameters for faster code entry.
8. Column hints and column scope data previews.
9. Intellisense for SET statement in SQL Server, Sybase ASE, MySQL.
10. Support for new data types introduced in SQL Server 2008 R2.
11. Hot-track for script variables, forced and hints and 1-click jump to declaration.
12. New hot key for highlighting of the current statement.

Unit Testing
13. Scheduling of unattended unit test project runs can be now done directly from SQL Assistant's graphical interface.


Miscellaneous
14. Hot key for searching the web for solutions helping to solve specific database and compilation errors.
15. $OBJECT$ macro within code snippets now supports schema and table name filters, much like Intellisense prompts in SQL code.
16. Bug fixes and other minor improvements.

I could not find no. 15. in the manual. How does it work?

Suppose you want to use cfecth macro snippet with Sales.Categories tables. To do that you would type cfetch and then Ctrl+Enter to invoke the macro snippet. The snipped code should make the objects popup appear on the screen. Type Sales and press Right-Arrow keyboard key. The schema level should expand. Note that nothing yet is inserted into the editor. Now start typing Cat, select Categories table. The snippet should generate a block of code specific to Sales.Categories and insert into the editor

Before 5.2 you couldn't use keyboard to filter both schema and tables. You could get the same result using mouse only.

I see. I thought it was something else. But this feature is just as good, thanks.

EDIT: would it be possible to expand that behavior to fields too?
