Any ideas ?

Do you have exactly the same target settings for Toad in the previous SQL Assistant version?
Does the new version appear in other targets?

If you haven't restarted you computer after version 5.x.x install, please try restarting it.
In case restarting doesn't help (if you are sure you already restarted your computer) run SQL Assistant in extended logging mode
SQLAssist /SA:TraceLogLevel:9
After that start Toad and open a new editor. Type SELECT keyword.
Please email %APPDATA%\SQL Assistant\5.0\SQLAssist.log file to support or post the content of the file here.
To find out where the log file is, run
dir "%APPDATA%\SQL Assistant\5.0\SQLAssist.log"

well - funny - the computer was restarted - sql assistant still was not working - but then I started again but with the log level as described from you - since then it works - even without loglevel.
I am buffled but happy. Thanks a lot - For me it is solved.
