Popup underneath the mouse |
|
I've had this annoyance since version 2. When the popup appears under the mouse as a result of a keypress (not an explicit mouse click), an item is highlighted. For some reason, it is often the one I want, so I hit enter because I see it as selected.
Possible solutions when you popup the menu as a result of a keypress and the mouse is within the region:
-Don't highlight until the mouse moves. (preferred)
-Allow enter to select that item (if enter is a selector). (may cause other side-effect issues)
Speed/responsiveness is more important though.

You are likely confusing "current" item under the mouse and "selected" item. The highlighting colors are similar and can be confusing. So if nothing is selected, pressing Enter key simply insert line break and moves popup to the next line in the editor. In case you want selection to match the current item (first by default), turn on/off "Auto-select first list item" option in SQL Assistant preferences. Hope this helps.

Didn't realize they were slightly different shades until you said something and I tried it.
