Must 24x7 scheduler be running to trigger a task? |
|
If I'm using COM API to create, schedule and monitor a task, must 24x7 Scheduler be running on the machine (server) in order for the task to be triggered?
Currently, while I'm trying out 24x7 Scheduler, I found out if it exists, my saved jobs won't be triggered. I think this is normal. But does that mean I need to keep a copy of "24 x 7 Scheduler" running all the time on the server? What if the server reboots and I have not set "24x7 Scheduler" to be autorun?
Please kindly explain this issue to me.
Thanks!

Yes. It must be running all the time. This is a server like application. If the server is not running, you cannot communicate with it and it won't be able to run any jobs. Please also ensure the 24x7 is configured to run in the server mode, so that it listens for client connections – see Network tab on the Options dialog (Tools -> Options menu).
To ensure the server is running all the time, you should setup it to run as a service and choose Automatic startup time for the service, and pick either LocalSystem, NetworkService, domain admin account or other account with auto-startup capabilities for the Windows service account - this is really a regular Windows services stuff.

Thanks for your reply. I've got it and successfully run it as a service. But the 24x7 Remote Control failed to connect to the server. Don't know why.

Did you enable the server mode?
