JAL script in 24x7 Multi-Platform edition

Hello everyone

My company recently purchased a 24x7 multi-platform edition,
we already have a windows edition and we are used to programming in JAL script, when we look up in Multi-platform for JAL script option we could'nt find it, that means that we can not use the JAL commands in our tasks.

Please let me know if i'm wrong because this is very important for my jobs.

As at the time of this writing, JAL is not supported in the 24x7 MP edition. If you run 24x7 MP on a Windows system, you can still run your existing JAL scripts using 24x7 command line interface, see below for details. Otherwise it is recommended that all new jobs are developed in cross-platform JavaScript because JAL and VBScript are platform dependent scripting environments run on Windows based systems.

To run your existing JAL script from 24x7 MP, create a program type job with the command line like "C:\Program Files\24x7 Automation 3\24x7.exe" /JOB "My JAL Script job name" To be able to run it in this manner, you need to keep a copy of 24x7 Windows edition installed on the same system, but not need to run it in a scheduler mode. 24x7.exe is simply used as a scripting engine, the /JOB command line parameter tell ls it with job to run.

FYI: Later this year, in 4.2 release, 24x7 MP will provide support for running JAL scripts directly, but only on Windows platforms. In some more distant future JAL is going to be ported to MP as a multi-platform scripting environment running natively in 24x7 MP or be replaced by a Just-in-time JavaScript compiler.
