Importinf job database from 3.x to 4.x |
|
My 2nd question today...
How do I import our job database from a windows 3.x scheduler to the new 4.x multiplatform editon running under linux?
When I use "Import remote job" a can click the "Connect" button and then I have to choose a remote host - but I cannot enter a name; there is only an empty select-list.
Thanks in advance.

Here are the required steps
1. Configure the 24x7 Windows version to run in server mode. Tools/Options menu; Network tab; Server mode enabled. Restart 24x7 after this change.
2. On the Linux side, start the Multi-platform version; Create new Remote Agent profile for Windows version; Right-click on Remote agents icon in the system tree, select New/Remote agent from the popup menu; Specify profile name (anything), for the connection specify Windows computer name or IP address, port 1096 and check "Windows" option in the profile settings.
3. After step 2, use Tools/Import Jobs from Remote 24x7 Scheduler menu; Click Connect button; Select created Remote Agent Profile for the connection; enter User and Password and click OK to Connect. Use << button on the Import dialog to selectively copy entire job folders and individual jobs from Windows to Linux.
4. When done close the Import dialog and save changes. Most likely you will need to modify jobs after the import because file names, path properties and some other things can be operation system dependent.

Excellent. Works!
Problem was : The "test connection" button always stated "unsucessful" when trying to add the 3.x master as a remote agent. I just clicked "ok" without testing.
When I used the import function the remote server appears at least in the select list. Then I used the configured user/password combination for the 3.x master and the import worked. Don't now why the "test connection" did not work...
Thank you.

Test Connection doesn't work for a new profile until the Save button is clicked. It calls some other utility function, which reads the profile data from the preferences file, which in turn is not yet updated if Save is not clicked. Consider this is a bug or a deficiency in the implementation.
