: Find which job crashes the scheduler and set it to run detached.

Some times there are no jobs running at all from the scheduler.

There must be some reason for that.

Do you have event-based jobs? (such as file monitoring, database monitoring, email monitoring, etc...)
If you do please check if your servers referenced by such jobs are not rebooted at night, or shutdown for maintenance or backups.

Also check what other processes run at night on the scheduler' computer. Backups, service restarts and so on.

Check schedule.log file for messages that can shed some light on what is happening before or during nightly crashes. Check if you have any remote jobs scheduled on other computers and remotely running on this computer at night.

Is it possible that it's confilicting with our Virus Scanning software? We are using McAfee VirusScan Enterprise 7.1.0.

There is no backups or anything of that nature going on...

It is surely possible, but I cannot say if this is the case. Here is what I would like to suggest.

1. Turn on all tracing and performance collection options in Tools/Options menu (Log page). Let it run for a few days and crash at least 2 or 3 times.
2. Use Windows XP Performance Monitor and setup memory (virtual bytes), CPU, threads, and handle counters for 24.exe process. Set the monitor to refresh automatically every 15 minutes and let us run.
2. Stop 24x7 and then zip all log files from 24x7 home directory and also all files from Performance Data subdirectory and email it to support@softtreetech.com. Also email your job database file and screenshot of the Windows XP Performance Monitor screen.

We will analyze your logs and help you to pinpoint when and what causes the problem.

Marc,

I just checked the support email and couldn't find your message. It looks like your email system blocked the entire message. Please rename your zip file to .zip_txt file and resend.
