Post email outside internal domain not working Reply with quote

I've got a job that uses MailSendWithAttachment that works with an internal email address, but it tries to send externally, it fails with a message "Mail Return Failure". Also, when it does send the email, it is resolving to the email address, "24x7_Scheduler@24x7automation.com". Any ideas?

It fails because you improperly specify recipient email address and your email server (not 24x7) returns the error.

You can change the default email sender address in the Tools/Options.

we're using v2.4.3 so i don't know if that has any bearing. but also, the email options are set correctly (MAPI). am i missing anything?

here is the code:

MailSendWithAttachment "profilename", "password", "name@externalmail.com", "subject line", "Please see attached file", zip_file

Because you use MAPI the sender's email address should the one specified in your MAPI profile. I don't know where you get a different sender. Anyway, if you want to change the default address you can use the Registry editor regedit.exe to change value of "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SoftTree Technologies, Inc.\24x7 Scheduler\2.0\SMTPSender". Sorry, in the version 2.x there is no place available in the GUI to change the default senders email address.

To solve issue with sending external emails you need to change the send method from "Send by Name" to "send by Address" or visa versa to tell MAPI how you send your emails. This can be done in the GUI (Tools/Options).

Names of "Send..." methods are confusing and different email clients use them differently, try both of them, one should be compatible with your email client software.

In our environment, we had to set up our Exchange server to allow email to originate form the 24x7 Scheduler server IP address. By default, it was blocking all email from the server to an outside address without this.
