on a windows 2000 server, I can send mail from MS outlook client. But when script runs in 24X7, sometimes, more often then not mail does not get sent.
I have checked settings on test box, all settings appear same.
any ideas?

Do you use MAPI email interface in 24x7?
If yes, can you see *sent* messages in the Outbox or Sent folder in MS Outlook?

Changed mail setting from SMTP to MAPI. Was able to send mail and see copy in "sent items". However, - Now messages are getting "stuck" in outbox in Outlook, instead of sending them directly out.

Change email send method in the 24x7 Tools/Options menu from "Send by name" to "Send by address" or the opposite. Either one should be compatible with your email client.
