Sure.
Actually you don't need to write any code for this, all you need to do is create a job having "program watch" schedule of type "when a program is not running". In the job properties specify name of the main program module to be watched.

Yes thanks - indeed i have created per your suggestion such a job using the Wizard. Is ask me "What is the name of the main process module" ..presumably this question pertains to "which program which i wanted to keep an eye out for which is NOT running". Now in the drop down box i can only select a list of 'modules' - it won''t let me select a program which runs on the deskstop and not as a service?? How can i overcome this limitation (?)..
i intent to buy this app if i get over this limitation.

The Wizard lists names of modules currently loaded. However you may type in the combo box any name you want. Note that name of the main program module is not always the same as name of the program. Use either the Browse button or the WinNT Task Manager to find out name of the module to watch. There is no difference for watching for Dekstop Applications and Services. From the 24x7 point of your all of them are equal, just programs loaded to computer memory.

Yes and no. Java programs as pure executable programs do not exist. They are interpreted and executed by the Java Virtual Machine (jvm).
Every java "program" requires separate instance of the jvm to be loaded.
So, "yes" you can watch for jvm ("java.exe") and "no" because if you have two java "programs" running you will not be able to say looking at the loaded modules which is which, they both "java.exe"

So if you run just one "program" you can watch it, if you run more than one then you cannot rely on this method.

However, instead of monitoring "modules" you may want to monitor "windows". You can create a JAL script in 24x7 to watch for a specific window title.
Try using WindowFind statement.
