Post [12.4.476 Pro] - Q: Tab mode setting in SE Reply with quote
The SQL Editor has a setting called [i]Tab mode. According to the help this can be set to either of the values Use tab character or Insert spaces. Their meanings are pretty obvious. But the actual setting dialog for that shows two more options:

I guess Smart tab will insert Tabs as long as it is possible and then "stuff" the rest of the empty void with Spaces to jump to positions marked by words in lines above.

But what is Dialog behavior?

Smart Tab mode makes it to use spaces instead of tabs, but the amount of spaces could vary depending on the usage. It's supposed to be used for aligning text to columns and previous lines. For example, if the actual indent in line 1 is 10 spaces, while the "tab" in the options is set to 4 spaces, and you move cursor to the beginning of line 2 and then press the Tab key, the editor will insert 10 spaces as in the previous line line 1 to align with it, not 4 spaces as set in the options.

Dialog behavior is somewhat for special use cases, not sure why it's listed in the options. When the editor is used within a modal dialog window, and the Tab key is used to move focus between controls in a dialog, it ignores the Tab key and let's the dialog handle tab press event.
