Hi,

Can you confirm whether it is possible to run Scheduler as a remote thick client app? We have the master instance on a server, and can access this using the web console (which gives most functionality but not all), but would prefer to have an installed client on the users' PCs to access the master instance giving full control?

Thanks,
Richard

Before I answer that, which functionality you find missing in the web console? Which version of the web console are you running?

Hi,

We're running Scheduler 5.0.387 (and the web console that is bundled with it).

Regarding functionality, there doesn't seem to be a view showing the status of all the jobs in a folder (which is useful), and you can't do anything with job queues, calendarsetc. Also, the dependencies screen tends to crash Explorer more often than not...

Thanks,
Richard

Unfortunately there is no remote client that will show that view as it is not provided by the scheduler's API. You can build your own client and create the required view, which may require multiple calls to the API to get a status of each job in a given folder and do complex time calculations to find out the next start time. That by the way have been already implemented in the Job Monitor, but there is no grouping by folder. As a workaround use folder specific prefix in job names in order to visually identify job/folder associations in the job monitor.

In case you only need past status and run time, enable database logging in Tools/Options/Log( More) options. Then you can create a fairly simple custom report using any any reporting tool that can pull data fro ma database table. Even Excel can be used for that purpose.
