Logon.exe doesn't unlock a computer locked by Remote Desktop |
|
A script (uses Logon.exe) tries to unlock every X seconds a workstation, when a user manually locks the workstation, the script can unlock it, but if is locked by a disconnected Remote Desktop (RDP), the workstation cannot be unlocked.
Is there any way to achieve this with Logon.exe as well?
Thanks,
Alejandro

Are you using the system logon utility, or the one here?

Is the problem that the logon utility is not working at all, or that the console is locked by the user who established the remote session, so you don't have the right credentials to unlock?
What kind of response do you get during the attempt?

The Login utility is working in scenarios where a workstation is locked manually by a user, about the problem with remote sessions, let me explain the scenario:
* In PC01 is running a script which tries to unlock the workstation every 30 seconds, it script is executed in the session of User1
* From PC02, the user User1 makes a remote desktop connection to PC01
* After a while, User1 closes the remote connection, in that moment PC01 is locked automatically by Windows
* The script tries to unlock the session but it seem that the Login utility thinks that the session is unlocked, the log shows "Computer is not locked. Nothing to do."
* The User1 needs to login manually to PC01
Thanks,
Alejandro

Logon.exe can only unlock interactive user desktop screen. If the screen is locked by remote desktop, it cannot unlock it. Basically it is like a different screen.
