Post Oracle 11G Reply with quote
I recently installed the latest version (3.6.11) of 24x7 Scheduler on a Windows 2008 server running a new installation of Oracle 11G. When I try to execute my Oracle profiles with the software, I receive the following message "Oracle library OCI.DLL or ORA803.DLL could not be loaded". Any idea on how I might be able to fix this issue?
Thanks,
Jim

Please verify your Oracle client BIN directory is in the system search path. It must be listed in the system PATH environment variable. If it is not, please add it and restart 24x7 so that it can use the new environment value.

I forgot to mention that I had already verified that the BIN path was in the PATH environment variable.

The message clearly indicates that OCI.DLL cannot be found in the system search PATH. Please try restarting the system, perhaps the updated PATH value is not "visible" to all programs.

I've verified that the BIN directory is in the system path and have cycled my server. I've installed this on other servers but this is my first time with Windows 2008 and Oracle 11G.

I am at a lost on how to fix this.

Please verify you have 32-bit version of Oracle client installed. 24x7 Scheduler is a 32-bit application, it can connect to Oracle using 64-bit clients.

Also, if you cannot get native connection to work, try connecting using ODBC interface.

Thanks. That explains it. Our Oracle 11G database is 64-bit. I'll look at trying the ODBC approach but might have to get the Microsoft executables for Oracle. I don't belive they are installed on the server. Thanks for all you help and I'll let you know the results.
