Hi A quick question on the new release due out in the next week or so.
Is Java 1.5 required or can the old version of java be used.

I am currently using j2re1.4.2_18

Thanks,

Sean

No, it won't run with 1.4 anymore. We have the code updated to run with 1.5. Unfortunately major JDK versions are not fully backward or forward compatible.

So you will need to get 1.5 installed. If you have any dependencies on other applications that require 1.4, you can run 1.5 and 1.4 side by side.

Yes, it is on target so far.

You can use either 32-bit or 64-bit JRE. Both should be good. Just don't use non-mainstream versions like some "generic" versions shipped preinstalled with some Linux distros, such as GNU Java, OpenJDK, etc… they are incompatible.

I highly recommend using the standard JRE version from JavaSoft (a.k.a. Sun Microsystems and Java.net) because the code has been compiled using that version. On some types of Unix/Linux only IBM or HP versions of JDK/JRE are available so that you are limited to them.
