At present the SQL Assistant tool opens the contents of an object, when holding ctrl and left click on object name, in a SQL Assistant tab. To enable the quick editing of the objects, for example procedures, would it be possible to open the contents of the object straight into a SSMS query editor tab depending on the object? for example, the contents of an entity is probably OK in a SQL Assistant tab, however, a procedure or function will open in an SSMS tab enabling a developer to immediately start re-factoring the object. Would it also be possible to highlight objects of the same name within a script, variables for example, with a light colour to quickly identify all occurrences of the object?

Off the record I believe yours' is a very honourable organisation, providing a great service for little cost, thank you.

It is of course theoretically possible to do for a specific editor and have the code of the clicked object opened in a new editor window. However SQL Assistant is not designed for a specific editor or IDE and some of the pre-registered and user-registered targets do not support multiple windows. So that in this case the answer is likely "No." However, the code that opens in the preview tab, can be easily copied to the editor workspace. In the right-top corner of the tab you can find a small copy icon, that could copy the entire text to the system clipboard, and then you can paste it directly into the same editor window or open a new editor window/tab and paste into the new editor.

I found the cross-referenced name highlighting feature is already listed in the pending enhancements queue. Our internal tracking issue number is #1694. Currently it is planned for version v4.1.
