Hi there,
I am not seeing any templates installed with the scheduler.
This is an issue with the web console because I do not have a blank job template.
Any ideas?
Thanks

The templates feature is available for creating user/application specific templates for quick job creation. For example, if you need to key 100 jobs that all start the same program with the same or slightly different parameters but at different times, you can create a template that will hold virtually all static job properties and only expose the "variable" parts, for example, command line parameter or start time. This way you can pick the required template, fill the variable and have the job created for you. In the web console if you are doing this for other users, you can "hide" the properties that you don't want other users to see and let them fill only what it needed. Some learning may be required about the 24x7 API in order to get familiar with property names.
Now, the multi-platform version currently doesn't support managing or creating template via the web-console interface. This feature can be used with the Windows-only version. In the multi-platform version you got to create templates manually as .INI files stored in the Templates subdirectory. There is a sample template available which has no practical use other then to show how to use this feature and which variable parameters can be used with the GUI. The template is a plain text file. To add a new template create new .INI file, you can copy the sample, and modify it as required.
If you need help with template design, please let me know what exactly you want to accomplish using this feature.

OK,
I was reading the docs on the web console. It says when creating a new job to select the "blank job" template.
I do not see this template available.
Is this easy to create?
Thanks.

I am not sure I am following you. What do you get when you click New Job button in the web console? Normally you should be getting Select Template dialog and the first template in the list is Blank Job template. This is a special template, which cannot be customized. This special template, if selected brings up the Job Properties Wizard. Other templates open Fill-in Template wizard.
Are you running JSP based or ASP based version of the interface? Which build number is displayed on the login page?

I guess you are logged in as a regular user (low privileged) and that is why you are limited to template-based jobs only and you can see only jobs created by you. If you login as an administrator, you should see the blank job template and you can create jobs of any type.

I am logged in as my user id.
In the master gui, I set my id up to be part of the administrators group under the tools->users dialog.
Do I need to setup anything else?
Thanks.

To answer that question, I need to know a couple of things. What's your web console version and build numbers? You can see them on the login screen. What happens if you rename users file in the scheduler directory to users.bak? Can you see the blank job template after this change?

Hi the web console build is:
24x7 Web Console Version 4.1.0 build 255
If I rename the users file then I will not be able to login to the web console.
I did however login to the master gui using root and when I click on new job from template I get the same dialog like in the picture I posted before.
Any ideas?
For the master I am running 4.1 build 247.
Thanks

I've sent you a private message with a download link for more recent web console version. Please let us know if there is any difference in behavior.

I meant an email message. Please check your email folders. Maybe it got stuck in some filters.
