How can i map up a drive through a script?

I am running 24x7 as a service under the administrator account.

In lots of script i want to move data from one machine to another. Most of the times this works well by using UNC's, but sometimes (like with SyncFTPDir) i have to map up a drive first.
Run("Net use bla bla bla") doesn't work.

How do i solve this?

Regards,

Ton.

Check out "Multiple file server free space monitor" job template. Script in that template dynamically maps/un-maps network drives. You can use the same technique for your job.

To call SyncFTPDir from a VBScript job use JALScript.Execute method.

If you run 24x7 version prior to 3.2.2 download this template from

OK, cool. So does that mean that scripts where you want to map up drives always have to be VBScripts?
If that's so, that's cool. I just want to know.

One of the reasons why VBScript was added in version 3 is to support COM automation which is not supported in JALScript. That's why for now you can use only VBScripts for that purpose. The mentioned template uses Windows Shell COM automation to map and un-map drives. Future versions of 24x7 will support user-defined VBScript functions that can be called directly from JAL and will really blur the line between these 2 scripting options.
