Post SyncFTPDir Reply with quote

This problem is identical to the FTP SYNC DIR opened, but we feel that the real thread has been lost, so we have decided to start afresh.! We are using version 2.4.6 of 24x7 and the general and non specific error message we get is “ERROR OCCURRED WHILE EXECUTING 24x7 LINE 7:”

Our script is quite simple and contains only the following line:

SyncFTPDir( "LOCAL", "xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx", "User", "password", "c:\temp\test", "/Jade/reception/", TRUE, FALSE, FALSE, TRUE )

PROBLEM N°1 WHEN LOCAL COMPUTER IS MASTER

If we attempt to replicate files (with no subdirectories) from “LocalDirectory » to "TargetDirectory and If there are no files the target directory, we get the non specific error message described above.

If we add a « dummy file » to the target directory (ie /jade/reception/dummy.TXT) n the remote computer, the replication works fine.

If we now attempt to add a subdirectory containing a file (ie "c:\temp\test\NEW\File2.txt) to the source_dir (ie c:\temp\test), the replication fails with the non specific error message described above, but the new subdirectory /jade/reception/New has been created without creating FILE2.txt

If we add a « dummy file » to the target directory (ie /jade/reception/New/dummy.TXT) the remote computer, the replication now works fine.

We cannot believe that this is normal behaviour as it defeats the whole purpose and requires humans manually create dummy files on a computer that we do not want them to be able to access !

Ok, here is the reason for the error - special ASCII characters. You either down't know or forgor about meaning of backslashes. Please see the on-line help on "special ASCII characters".

Change your script to the following:

SyncFTPDir( "LOCAL", "xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx", "User", "password", "c:\\temp\\test", "/Jade/reception/", TRUE, FALSE, FALSE, TRUE )

We have used the option to change special ASCII character from \ to |, so as not to have to use double backslashes. Any way, when we get the name to target_dir and source_dir, I can assure you we get a more explicit error message.

Unfortunately, this is not the answer.

Please let us know what is happening with this problem.

As far as we are concerned it does not work and special carecters do not solve the problem
