Post Execution locked by 24x7.exe Reply with quote

Hello,

I have a job that calls a propram that dials out to Advantis for EDI transactions. When I run the program from the desktop it runs fine but when I attempt to run the job with 24x7 scheduler the program appears to start (the process is listed in the task manager process list) but it doesn't do anything. If I then go into task manager and KILL the 24x7.exe process the program continues on normally.

This is of course not a good solution. Any idea of why this is occuring?

John

What kind of program is it? DOS, Windows 16-bit, 32-bit, Java, etc...
How do you run it? (hidden window, ..., other). Does it require to be an active program/window in order to run smoothly? Can it run in the background?
Do you have tracing enabled in 24x7? Does the program write to a log file?

The program is DOS based (runs under NTVDM). My assumption is that it needs to be the active program. The program is run in a Normal window. I do not think that it can be run in the background.

No, I do not have tracing enabled at this time. The program has a log file.
It says the program started and the rest is blank until I kill 24x7.exe and then the program continues and the log file then continues as well.

As a test I think that I am going to try running the job manually from the desktop with 24x7 remote agent running and see if I get the same error.

Make sure you don't have a conflict for communication settings. Your program does not attempt to use port number allocated by the Agent. If it does, change the port number in agent settings (see Tools/Options/Network settings)
and agent's profile on the master scheduler side.

After further testing it almost appears to be a resource issue.

If I execute the job using RUN the application works but not if I do a RUNANDWAIT or process checking. Also, the application when it does run uses 100% of the CPU.
