Post DB2 Sys Audit Reply with quote

I posted this in the 24x7 board by mistake - reposting the same here

Hi,
I'm using your DB Audit product to track changes in a DB2 8.2 server.
I'm able to track DML changes (Data Audit) without any trouble, however,
I am having some trouble with the DDL changes(Sys Audit).

I have configured a schedule using the DB2 Task Center (to run every minute)
and it runs successfully every time. I've also enabled tracking of all operations
in the "Set System Audit Options" dialog. This dialog also shows the current
status of the Auditing to be "System audit is currently ENABLED".

I was expecting that operations like creation of new tables, alter tables etc
would get imported in the DB by the scheduled task and that I could export them
to a file using the Export button in the DB Audit product. However, the Export
always results in an empty file. All the reports related to Sys audit also
result in a "No Data Found" report. How can I debug this issue? Where in the
file system does DB2 write out audit logs? Does the task that I've scheduled
load the DB and clean up the DB2 audit logs?

Thanks in advance,
Raj

I am not sure I understand the issue.

Can you confirm the following:
1. System audit is enabled and working
2. When you run a system-audit or compliance report and get a prompt to flush recent events to the audit trail you get no errors
3. You can see system-audit and compliance reports on the screen but cannot export them to a file

I'm not sure it is working. How do I find out it is working?
It is definitely enabled.

No - I do not see any visual errors when I choose to flush recent events. Does
DB Audit maintain the output of these operations on disk somewhere?

No - all the reports show up with a "No Data Found" message. There must be
something wrong with the DB loading script. How can I debug it?

You can check if the audit is enabled in the System Audit/Options menu. The options dialog shows a message on the bottom indicating if the auditing is enabled or disabled.

Try running SELECT * FROM db_audit.sys_audit_trail table. If that table is empty the auditing either disabled or notworking. In the last case take a look what you get in dbaudit.log file on the DB2 Server machine. This is a procssing log file. Any errors should be recorded there.

See above.
