Your Oraclie client directory is not in the system search path, or you have multiple clients and old client is listed first. As a result either no TNSNAMES.ORA is found or wrong TNSNAMES.ORA file is found which does not contain the specified identifier.
Solution: make sure right Oracle client directory is added to the PATH environment variable. : i can connect to oracle using sql plus but when
